Sapphires at 2011 Golden Globes

Since its establishment in 1944, the Golden Globe Awards have been a place to wear exquisite and expensive jewelry. The 2011 Golden Globe Awards, which were held last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, had its fair share of elegant and opulent jewelry pieces adorned by actors and actresses alike. Although many of the attendants wore jewelry with diamonds, few wore sapphire jewelry. Tina Fey, Jessalyn Gilsig, and Christina Aguilera were among the few who were seen wearing sapphire jewelry at the glamorous event.

Tina Fey, who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series-Comedy or Musical for 30 Rock wore sapphire jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz. Tina wore diamond and blue sapphire blackened platinum earrings with 40-carat pear shaped sapphire drops (shown below), a 60-carat diamond and blue sapphire platinum bracelet, and a 12-carat blue sapphire blackened platinum ring. Jessalyn Gilsig, who stars as Terri Schuester on Glee, which won Best Television Series-Comedy or Musical, wore sapphire jewelry from Chopard (shown below). Gilsig had white gold teardrop earrings with 53 carats of multi-colored sapphires and a floral bracelet with an astonishing 282 carats of pink sapphires set in white and rose gold.

Christina Aguilera, who stars in Burlesque, which was nominated for Best Motion Picture-Comedy or Musical, wore jewelry with numerous rubies from Lorraine Schwartz. Christina wore two platinum ruby rings and a ruby and diamond blackened platinum ring with bracelet attached.

Snooki Launching Own Jewelry Line

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, who is known for her role in the MTV reality TV series, Jersey Shore, recently announced that she is launching her own custom jewelry line. On New Year’s Eve while Snooki was inside an over-sized NYE ball in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, she wore a limited edition pendant from her jewelry line. The sterling silver pendant is adorned by 21 created pink sapphires and will sell for $49. Snooki encouraged her fans to purchase her pendant saying, “Make sure you come and pick it up because you know what, it’s friggin’ awesome.” Jersey Shore is currently in its third season on MTV.

Victoria and David Beckham Are Expecting Baby #4!!

Soccer star David Beckham and his wife Victoria are expecting their 4th child in the summer of 2011. When asked about additional kids, fashion designer and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham said, ”I think one day, if we’re blessed to have more children, it would be amazing. It’s a lot having three boys … But who knows, one day?” The celebrity couple already have three boys together Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz who are ages 11, 8, and 5, respectively. David and Victoria, who have been married for 11 years, are reportedly still “very affectionate.” Recently, Victoria tweeted, “Thank u so much for your kind and beautiful messages!!! we are all so happy and very excited!!!!!! x vb x”

Even though details haven’t emerged on whether the new baby will be a boy or girl, we suggest that David should purchase sapphire jewelry for Victoria. Blue sapphires for a boy, pink sapphires for a girl would be outstanding!!

Twilight saga, Kristen Stewart win big at People’s Choice Awards

The third installment in the Twilight movie saga, Eclipse won four People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Eclipse came through with the PCA’s for Favorite Movie, Favorite Drama Movie, and Favorite On-Screen Team. Kristen Stewart was named Favorite Movie Actress for her role as Bella Swan. She attended the awards show with boyfriend and co-star Robert Pattinson, while fellow co-star Taylor Lautner attended the event as well. Both Rob and Taylor were nominated for Favorite Movie Actor and Favorite Movie Star Under 25, but they lost in both categories to Johnny Depp and Zac Efron, respectively. Stewart was surprised in her win as she beat Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston.

Christina Aguilera Receives Ring…Not Engaged

Recently, Christina Aguilera was spotted wearing a new ring, but according to People Magazine it is not an engagement ring. The ring was given to her by her boyfriend of three months, Matt Rutler, a production assistant. Matt gave Aguilera the ring for her birthday, which was on December 18th. The couple met while Christina was filming Burlesque. Christina, 30, was married to music producer Jordan Bratman for five years, until their divorce in October 2010. Aguilera and Bratman have a two-year-old son Max together.

According to a source, it is very important to Christina that Max and Matt would get along well. Therefore, Christina introduced her son to Matt on an outing to the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. The source said, “Christina took Max on the fun outing so he could bond with Matt.” The couple celebrated Christina’s birthday and New Year’s Eve together at her Beverly Hills home with the singer’s friends and family.

The couple began dating in January and apparently the How Do You Know actress knows very well when she’s in love. After her divorce in 2007, Reese dated Jake Gyllenhaal for two years, but they broke up in November of 2009. Natalie Portman is Pregnant and Engaged!!

Natalie Portman, 29, has announced her engagement to choreographer Benjamin Millepied and that they are expecting a child. Natalie and Benjamin met during the production of Black Swan, in which Natalie played the lead role of ballerina Nina Sayers in the ballet of “Swan Lake”. Her fiancé played the role of David, one of the male ballet dancers in the psychological thriller. Recently, Portman told Entertainment Weekly, “I have always kept my private life private but I will say that I am indescribably happy and feel very grateful to have this experience.” This will be the first child and the first marriage for Portman. Natalie has received numerous nominations including a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe for her role in the film. Rumor has it that she may be nominated for an Academy Award as well, and is on the cover of EW’s Oscar Race issue.

Alanis Morissette Gets Married to Long-time Boyfriend MC Souleye!

The intimate wedding ceremony took place on May 22, 2010 at their Los Angeles home with close friends and family. Morissette, 36, is a 7-time Grammy winning, Canadian singer who is known for her 90’s alternative-rock. MC Souleye, 30, is a rapper from Boca Raton, Florida. Morissette was previously engaged to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds between 2004-2006. The newlyweds have been dating since October 2009 and this is the first marriage for both. According to Perez Hilton, Morissette is pregnant and this was a small, shotgun wedding.

Selena Gomez graduated high school twice, in reality and in a film. On Monday, May 10th, Selena’s Facebook status announced, “What are the odds……Today I graduated from high school and got my diploma!!!!! I also filmed my graduation ceremony in the upcoming movie Monte Carlo. So in a weird way I was able to experience an official graduation, LOL. How is everyone doing? What are your plans for the summer? Miss you all and I will update again soon.”

Selena, 17, is an actress on the hit Disney Channel original series Wizards of Waverly Place. She is also a pop rock singer with her band, Selena Gomez & The Scene, who will be on tour at the end of July. The pre-production movie Monte Carlo is about two college students and one recent high school graduate who are vacationing in Paris find themselves whisked away to Monte Carlo after one of the girls is mistaken for a British heiress. The upcoming movie will be filming in Monaco, Paris, and Budapest over the next few months and is set to be in theaters in 2011.

On May 9th, Shelton surprised her with a marriage proposal “over a couple of Bacardi and Diet Sprites,” near Miranda’s home in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Miranda,26, loved that her fiancé popped the question, “so Southern and old-school and perfect,” in which Blake asked for her father’s blessing prior to the marriage proposal. Shelton, 33, chose a gorgeous diamond and platinum engagement ring on his own. Miranda stated that she was “so proud of him. We’ve been together five years, so he knew exactly what I wanted but it’s so much more perfect than I could have picked out myself.”

The couple also received CMT Music Awards nods on the morning of May 11th. Miranda was nominated for two awards for “White Liar,” Female Video of the Year and Video of the Year. Blake was nominated for one award, Collaborative Video of the Year for “Hillbilly Bone”.
