Melissa Rycroft, a contestant on Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor and former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, will be getting married on Saturday, December 12, 2009 to Tye Strickland, a 28-year-old insurance agent from Dallas. The couple met three years ago in Dallas, Texas, both of their hometowns. Tye was determined to marry his former girlfriend Melissa Rycroft, 26, but there was one problem: Rycroft had gone on ABC’s The Bachelor as a contestant and got engaged to Jason Mesnick. According to an August 3, 2009 article by People Magazine, Jason and Melissa broke off their engagement and only six months later, Melissa happily agreed to walk down the aisle with her hometown sweetheart, Tye Stickland. The wedding, which will be attended by family and close friends, will be held in Mexico. It was reported that Type proposed to Melissa on June 25, 2009, with a diamond and blue natural sapphire engagement ring from The Natural Sapphire Company. Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton, the only daughter of former President Bill Clinton and incumbent Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Marc Mezvinsky. Marc is the son of former Iowa congressman Ed Mezvinsky and former Pennsylvania congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinksy. In addition to both having politicians for parents, Chelsea, 29, and Marc, 31, are both Stanford University graduates. Marc currently works at Goldman Sachs and Chelsea is attending graduate school at Columbia University’s School of Public Health. The couple became engaged on Thanksgiving, which they spent in New York together. On Friday, November 27, 2009, Marc and Chelsea sent a mass-email out to their friends and family stating: “We’re sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn’t get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays!
