Celebs, Fashion Icons, and Models Pay Tribute to the Late Alexander McQueen

British fashion designer Lee Alexander McQueen was found dead today, February 11, 2010, at his home in London, England. He was 40 years old and was known for his outrageous and over-the-top designs. In 2003, Queen Elizabeth II made him Commander of the British Empire for his fashion leadership. Concerning his death, the Associated Press reported that the circumstances indicated a possible suicide due to the recent death of his mother on February 2nd, but Scotland Yard have not confirmed the aforementioned statement.

The following statement was posted by the Alexander McQueen Office, Official Website:

“On behalf of Lee McQueen’s family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family.

Lee’s family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.”

Celebrities including Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sandra Bullock, Tyra Banks, Kim Kardashian, and many others have paid tribute to the late Alexander McQueen today. Fashion icons saluted McQueen as well including Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, Victoria Beckham, and models Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, and Naomi Campbell.

On Sunday, November 15, 2009 in New York City, New York, Victoria’s Secret supermodel Adriana Lima and her NBA player husband, Marko Jaric welcomed their first child, a daughter named Valentina Lima Jaric. Lima, a 28-year-old Brazilian who has been a “VS Angel” since 2000, was engaged to Marko Jaric on June 12, 2008, her 27th birthday. The couple married on Valentines Day of this year. After many comments from Adriana of her abstinence from sex until marriage, she was named the “World’s Most Voluptuous Virgin” by GQ Magazine. Lima previously dated MLB player Derek Jeter and legendary musician Lenny Kravitz. Marko Jaric, 31, is currently a shooting guard for the Memphis Grizzlies. Heidi Klum and “Project Runway” Return with a Sixth Season

After much confusion and delay over the past year, model Heidi Klum will be returning to television as the host with a sixth season of “Project Runway”. For the past five seasons, “Project Runway” aired on NBC Universal’s Bravo network and took place in New York. Not anymore! The show’s producers, The Weinstein Company settled a lawsuit with NBC Universal and agreed to pay an undisclosed amount for the right to move their show to Lifetime. “Project Runway” didn’t only change their television station, but their on-set location to Los Angeles, from its previous location in New York. Season six is set to premiere on Thursday, August 20, 2009 on Lifetime Television with guest judge, actress Nicole Kidman. This season will feature guest judges such as Christina Aguilera, Eva Longoria Parker, and Lindsay Lohan.
