In London, a court ruled in favor of the British rock band Pink Floyd against their recording label. The judge declared that EMI Music cannot sell individual tracks from classic Pink Floyd albums without the band’s consent. The judge also ordered EMI to pay Pink Floyd’s estimated $90,000 in court costs, and refused the renowned recording label permission to appeal.

A lawyer for the band stated that EMI is “not entitled to exploit recording by online distribution or by any other means other than the original album, without the consent of Pink Floyd.”

EMI said in a statement, “We’re huge fans of Pink Floyd, whose great catalog we have been representing for more than 40 years, and continue to represent exclusively and internationally. This week’s court hearing was around the interpretation of two contractual points, both linked to the digital sale of Pink Floyd’s music. There are further arguments to be heard and the case will go on for some time.” For your information, Pink Floyd’s “great catalog” is reportedly the second-most valuable in the world, behind the Beatles.

This court ruling was a victory for the artistic control of their music by prohibiting the sale of their songs on the Internet as individual downloads and ringtones.

On Sunday, November 15, 2009 in New York City, New York, Victoria’s Secret supermodel Adriana Lima and her NBA player husband, Marko Jaric welcomed their first child, a daughter named Valentina Lima Jaric.  Lima, a 28-year-old Brazilian who has been a “VS Angel” since 2000, was engaged to Marko Jaric on June 12, 2008, her 27th birthday.  The couple married on Valentines Day of this year.  After many comments from Adriana of her abstinence from sex until marriage, she was named the “World’s Most Voluptuous Virgin” by GQ Magazine.  Lima previously dated MLB player Derek Jeter and legendary musician Lenny Kravitz.  Marko Jaric, 31, is currently a shooting guard for the Memphis Grizzlies. Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber were extortion victims by a friend of their former nanny, who reportedly was threatening to sell a photo of their seven-year-old daughter bound to a chair and gagged.  The photo was taken by Crawford’s former nanny, without her knowledge, while they were playing a cordial game of cops and robbers.  This “prank” photo was stolen by Edis Kayalar , a friend of the nanny, who is also known as “Eddie”.

When Eddie retrieved the infamous photo, he demanded payment by Rande Gerber in exchange for the photo.  According to legal documents, Gerber paid Eddie $1,000 for the photo, but it later became known that Eddie requested more money because he had more copies of the photo.  Gerber and Crawford reported the acts of extortion by Kayalar to the police and was later arrested.  Afterward, the L.A.P.D. turned over the case to the F.B.I.  Eddie was then placed in federal custody by F.B.I and deported to Germany.  From Germany, Eddie called the couple and demanded $100,000 or he would d release the photo to the media.  The case is currently under supervision by F.B.I and the Feds.

On Sunday, September 13, 2009, The MTV Video Music Awards were held in Radio City Music Hall in New York. Taylor Swift, a 19-year old American country pop singer won her first MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me”. During her acceptance speech, Kanye West went on stage and stole the microphone from Swift and said that Beyoncé Knowles video for “Single Ladies” was “one of the best videos of all time”, implying that Beyoncé should have won this award and not Taylor Swift. Kanye gave the microphone back to Taylor, which resulted in booing from the audience, celebrities and fans alike. Taylor Swift left the stage without finishing her acceptance speech and Kanye West was escorted out of Radio City Music Hall for the night.

Later in the awards show, Beyoncé won the VMA for Best Video of the Year for “Single Ladies”. While accepting the Moonman, she invited Taylor Swift to the stage to finish her acceptance speech due to the interruption by Kanye West earlier in the awards show saying, “This is amazing. I remember being 17-years-old, up for my first MTV award with Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, so I would like for Taylor to come out and have her moment.” Swift went on stage to finish her acceptance speech, hugged Beyoncé, and then the two winners left the stage together.

After the awards show Taylor Swift commented that, “I was standing on stage and I was really excited because I’d just won the award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage. And then I wasn’t excited anymore after that.”

Many celebrities backed Taylor Swift and bashed Kanye West by tweeting about the incident, including Katy Perry, Pink, Donald Trump, P-Diddy, and many others.

Even though Kanye West apologized twice for his actions, the latter more sincere, we recommend that Taylor Swift should pick up a beautiful yellow sapphire and diamond pendant to help her  move on after the tirade.

Jon & Kate from John & Kate Plus 8 seem to be having many issues with their relationship.  Now Jon is dating a 22 year old named Hailey Glassman.
