Brooklyn Decker Astonished By 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover

Brooklyn Decker was astounded when she found out that she was to be on the cover of the 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. She was on the Today show on the morning of Monday, February 8, 2010 and explained how she received the big news. Earlier that morning she went to what she thought was going to be a casting call, when Brooklyn Decker walked in and saw “all sorts of cameras and mics and everything and tons of blown-up pictures of myself all over.”

Brooklyn said of the surprise that she “burst into tears like a little child. It’s really exciting. It’s just now hitting me, so I am really happy.” A large sports fan, Decker compared her happiness to the New Orleans SaintsSuper Bowl 44 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, February 7th. She added that her feat is “the equivalent of a model winning the MVP or the Super Bowl.”

Decker, 22, is married to professional tennis player, Andy Roddick, age 27. Brooklyn said in the interview that Roddick is “very proud. He knows it’s a goal of mine. To see me succeed, and to see each other succeed, it’s really exciting.” Roddick tweeted on his Twitter page, “so happy/proud of my wife…the new cover for sports illustrated swimsuit issue!!!! unreal… so excited!!!!!!!!!!”

We suggest that Any Roddick should purchase for his wife a unique yellow natural sapphire and diamond ring from The Natural Sapphire Company to celebrate her sensational accomplishment and to always remember the yellow bikini in the cover.

Lindsey Vonn’s Comeback Win Brings Her on Top

Lindsey Vonn is the USA TODAY U.S. Olympic Athlete of the Week, after a huge comeback on her part over the weekend. After winning every World Cup downhill this season, Lindsey Vonn hit a hole in the snow in St. Moritz, Switzerland over the weekend, still managing to finish fifth. She came back and won the super-G the next day.It is a remarkable feat that she won this award at this time. The Winter X Games 14, which took place in Aspen this past weekend, and the Millrose Games, which brought out many big U.S. wins during the week. Vonn is the final winner of this award until March because the award isn’t given during the Olympic Games.

The 2010 Winter Olympics will take place in Vancouver, Canada from February 12th to the 28th. Vonn, who has never won an Olympic medal, has been a favorite in the past few weeks leading up to the Olympic Games. She will be participating in three races: the downhill, the super-G, and the super-combined, which play to Vonn’s strength’s. During this winter’s FIS Alpine Ski World Cup season, Vonn has dominated the speed events, winning the first five downhills and two of the first four super-G races. She also won a super-combined.

The expectations on Lindsey, nonetheless, are immense. According to Sports Illustrated in which she appears on this month’s cover (below), she is considered to be “America’s Best Woman Skier Ever.”

We wish Lindsey Vonn the best of luck in winning her first of many Olympic medals during this year’s Winter Olympics. If she wins, we recommend celebrating her achievements with something more than a medal…a stunning yellow natural sapphire and diamond ring from The Natural Sapphire Company.
